PetPals a program of MATCH-UP Interfaith Volunteers, is looking for volunteers with dogs for their pet visitation program. The program serves residents of Boston and Brookline nursing homes and assisted living communities, and works in cooperation with The Animal Rescue League of Boston.
PetPals recruits volunteers with dogs to visit a nursing care facility 2-4 hours a month for a minimum of six months. Dr. Amy Marder of The Animal Rescue League of Boston provides assessment and screening for volunteer-dog teams.
Pets can be a catalyst in encouraging social interaction and promoting well-being among nursing home residents. With your help, PetPals will be able to bring many smiles and much joy to even more residents in long-term care facilities in Boston and Brookline.
