This weekend starts the round of spring Open Studios and Art Walks in the Greater Boston area. Its predicted that the weather will be sunny and in the 80’s – a great weekend to be walking about visiting artists’ studios.
This weekend you can visit these artists’ studios :
Unusual for any area Open Studios, the Miller Street Studios in Somerville will start their Open Studios event in the evening. The first day is Friday April 24 from 6 PM – 10 PM. The second day will be Saturday April 25 from noon to 5 PM.
At the Miller Street studios you will be able to see the work of approximately 30 artists. Artists’ work range from sculpture to prints, to technology infused art, to paintings and textiles. Many of the artists have their own websites which you can peruse prior to attending. Links can be found on the Miller Street Studios home page.
West Medford Open Studios – from noon to 5 PM on Saturday April 25 and Sunday April 26 you can visit the artists’ studios, listen to readings by local writers and enjoy live music performed by local musicians. While visiting the artists’ studios you will see works of photography, paintings in a variety of mediums, hand crafted jewelry and pottery, and sculptures.
Last but not least are the Cambridge Open Studios North/West. The artists’ studios will be open from noon to 6 PM on April 25 and April 26. Artists’ work includes paintings, fiber art, mixed media, sculptors, photographers, musicians, dancers and writers. More than 50 artists will be on hand to show and discuss their work. Performances by musicians and dancers as well as readings by local writers will occur at scheduled times.
